Aster Review Submissions
The Aster Review accepts submissions on a rolling basis from currently enrolled high school and undergraduate students, as well as researchers worldwide. All submissions receive a substantive editorial review and written feedback, regardless of the publication decision.
Guidelines
The Aster Review welcomes academic submissions from authors around the world. As a journal dedicated to promoting accessible, high-quality scholarship, our mission is to provide a platform for both emerging and established voices across a wide range of disciplines.
We welcome a broad spectrum of academic writing, including original research papers, review articles, and scholarship in the humanities, social sciences, and STEM fields. The Aster Review publishes quarterly issues, and authors can generally expect an initial response within four to five weeks of submission.
Before submitting your manuscript, please ensure that all sources are properly cited in APA format, including in-text citations where appropriate. Manuscripts should be submitted as a Google Document with viewing and commenting access granted to our editorial team. Submissions should not exceed 25 pages in length, excluding the Works Cited section, and should be formatted in 12-point Times New Roman with 1.15 line spacing. Authors are encouraged to review our sample articles before submitting, as adherence to our formatting guidelines helps streamline the review and publication process.
Every submission undergoes a peer-review process conducted independently by two editors. During review, manuscripts are evaluated for academic integrity, factual accuracy, originality, clarity of argument, and grammatical quality. After completing their assessments, the editors collaborate to determine whether a manuscript is suitable for publication. Because submissions are accepted on a rolling basis, authors may submit their work at any time throughout the year.
To accommodate different publication timelines, The Aster Review offers two review pathways. The Expedited Review pathway provides authors with a publication decision within one to two weeks of submission while maintaining the same rigorous editorial standards applied to all manuscripts. The Standard Review pathway follows our standard publication schedule of four to five weeks of submission, with authors receiving notification of their decision when the next issue is released. Regardless of the pathway selected, all submissions undergo the same peer-review process and academic integrity screening. Authors whose work is accepted for publication should generally expect their article to appear in an issue within two to three months.
As part of the submission process, authors will be asked to identify the category that best reflects their work. This information helps us assign manuscripts to the most appropriate editors for review.
There is a $15 fee to submit a manuscript for consideration. The $15 submission fee covers editorial screening and substantive review by a qualified reviewer, including written feedback, regardless of whether your paper is accepted. If your paper is accepted, the submission fee is credited against your publication fee. Publication fees are assessed only after a manuscript has been accepted. Accepted papers in the Expedited Review pathway are subject to a $400 publication fee, while accepted papers in the Standard Review pathway are subject to a $300 publication fee. These fees support The Aster Review’s outreach initiatives, educational programs, operational costs, and efforts to expand access to academic publishing. Authors who require financial assistance are encouraged to contact the editorial team, and we will work with applicants on a case-by-case basis.
